For our GCSE Media Studies exam, we had to come up with a pitch for a UK sitcom. The following is a basic summary of my idea:

Basically, its My Family meets World of Warcraft.

Joe is your typical 20-year old ex-college student, stuck in the job he loves with the boss he hates. And she hates him more. Officially, he works as a programmer and administrator for the online (MMO) RPG, Screened, under the username of Resonance. Unoffically, his hacking skills are useful for things that arent quite company policy. His boss, Anna, is the career-obsessed, tight-lipped thirty-something-year-old whos left to smooth it all over. Unfortunately, because of these skills, shes had orders from higher up that shes not to fire him. In between these two lies Atticus (also known as Blacktooth), Joes colleague, who thinks life is out "to screw him and shit in his coffee". He has glasses and is your typical nerd-figure, the only love of his life being programming. Hes been treading on thin ice with Anna ever since he convinced her to give Joe a job, but hes a long-time employee and the company wont fire him until he becomes a real nuisance. Hes also Joes flatmate (technically landlord), but shots of the flat are rarely seen.

When Joe has finished work, or is just a little bored with it, hell go online on Screened and talk to people, as well as collecting items. He likes to play the hero - one time, he rescued a newbie from certain death at the hands of the monster. Admittedly, it was only to get the item from beating said monster, but still - its the thought that counts. Of course Sayir, the newbie, now reveres Resonance, and hangs around with him as if they are teammates. Eventually, Joes dark past of hacking comes back to haunt him in the form of a user known as Magenta. Shes young but powerful, and has a band of loyal followers. And seeing as he hacked her years ago, shes out for revenge, and she means business....
